I LOVE DONCASTER

Can't remember a thing, wonder if Simons written his yet so I can have a reminder, no, oh well here goes.

Monday 05.05.14

Bank Holiday so went to work still full of cold.  Did all the usual Monday stuff, racked beer, tapped other beer, ordered beer, sold beer, paperwork.  Listened to some more bands who want to play here, didn't book them.  Hometime, said hello and goodbye to the Steampunk fraternity who meet in Cask Corner on the 1st Monday of the month (they wear some great outfits).  Left the bar, walked round the corner, slipped on a chip, a chip for crying out loud!!! and grazed both knees and pulled my back!  Got home a little dishevelled and in pain made tea and settled uncomfortably down for Scrabble night.  What a victory it was this time, I was losing (not by much) all the way through (z and no o's, q and no u, the usual assortment of vowels and no consonants) then my final go, 8 letter word Deporter (I added deporte to an R) making a total of 72 points and victory, Simon proper spat the dummy at that one so sang my song quietly and a little apologetically (not).  Scores so far -  Me 14, Simon 1.

Tuesday 06.05.14

Woke up and my backs killing I won't ever look at a chip in the same way again.  Simons greeting of "Morning Gorgeous" was greeted with "I'm never sleeping with you again".  In between my coughing waking me up, my back pain waking me up, Simons snoring and Simons coughing also woke me up so I got no sleep, poor Simons look of dismay, I didn't mean it.  Finally my chance to yell at the delivery people who failed to let me have my order last week because of bureaucratic nonsense and let rip I did.  People who know me will tell you that I very rarely get angry but when I do boy do you know about it.  Keely from PMP next door heard all as she was on the Sun Terrace at the same time.  Finally they agreed that if they delivered before 12 then they would leave it at aforementioned PMP.  Spoke to Lindisfarne and let them know what was going on and they were lovely and so apologetic even though it wasn't their fault and said they'd send me something to make up for all the hassle I've had.  Tuesday evening we had Shambollix playing at Live and Gigging, they were really good and played a lot of songs that sent me right back to my youth (no it wasn't the Charleston).  They were that good that I've booked them for a weekend gig on 23rd of this month.  Missed the Homebrew Group again and I really enjoy it too blooming paperwork, but also got to start my first ever blog.

Wednesday 07.05.14

Delivery of Mead finally arrived.  Staff meeting this morning went smoothly.
Pete Kennedy from the Green Party and CAMRA member was in, we were discussing Green Party policies etc and me perhaps running for for council for the Green Party, when asked what my platform would be I replied, "Er a small dais?",  I also got Twerking and Fracking mixed up, I couldn't understand why the Green Party were against dancing provocatively!  Think I need to do a bit more research on Green Party issues.  Tonight's Comedy Night was really good, we set a new record of 22 people in the disabled loo (don't ask me why it was Sully O'Sullivans idea).

Oh also discovered a way of reducing Simons snoring, we snuggle up in bed and I rub Vic on our chests and we have a cough sweet each.  Oh yes, we're so Rock and Roll.

Thursday 08.05.14
Day off!!!!  Got up late, did a little tidying (my house is officially on a par with those you see on Kim and Aggie), I'm very rarely home so housework does tend to take a back seat to doing other things like sleep and eat.  You know you get those people who say they have a bedrobe, or a floorrobe well I have a houserobe, things get washed but never get put away I just flit from room to room trying to find clothes.  Simon and I went to Mummy and Daddys for tea (via B & M for a look for an arch for my garden, saw a lovely art deco mirror which I coveted but didn't buy as we were walking and it was a bit big) we ate far too much and got home so bloated we only just made it upstairs.  Oh I also did some research and am now very au fait with fracking and am against it and it is part of my Green Party platform of things that need to be dealt with.

Friday 09.05.14
Finding it hard to believe I've not had any plumbing issues this week, fingers crossed for tonight then.  Got in from the first shift at Cask to find that Simon had been out and bought me the mirror that I coveted on Tuesday, I'm one lucky girl to have such a lovely boyfriend.

Mick Simpson Band supported by James Holder were very good Mick can certainly play the guitar, Hendrix, Gary Moore and his own stuff, Johnny Mac came along and got up and played the old "Gob Iron" with him and he was awesome as always.  Intended early night ended up being around 5.30 am.

Saturday 10.05.14
Up at 8am busy day today on 2 and a half hours sleep.  Went Cask to do the banking, etc then off to Clock Corner to support the Sine FM stage which Simon was MC'ing as part of the DNWeekeND a fantastic day of events all over Doncaster and the launch of Doncopolitan a new magazine which is well worth a read, very well done (plus my boyfriend Simon Saynor wrote an article in it, I'm so proud). The majority of the musicians who play at Open Mic and do support slots were playing there, 16 in total and in the sun, wind, rain, sun, rain they soldiered on and were brilliant and ran on time, a rare occurrence in the music business.

This is "Bluesy Steve" - Steve Keeton, friend, employee and amazing blues guitarist

After they'd finished we made a quick detour to a shoe shop to buy me some shoes as I had spent the entire day in heels and felt like my feet were bleeding (I'm a girl who spends her days in docs normally).  How my sister does it I do not know, she lives in 8 inch platform shoes and has never experienced a "comfy shoe" since she was a child.  Shoes bought we made our way to the Waterdale following some kids drumming to check out the Green Partys pop up shop amongst others, we tickled a plant which laughed and stroked a cactus that made music then went to a Camera Obscura.  After that we went to see what was happening outside Cast and were lucky to see a great band performing called The Stars Band organised by Under The Stars, a learning disability friendly nightclub run by people with a learning disability and their friends. They run proper nights out and people come to the clubs so they can have a good time in a safe environment, meet up with old friends and make new ones.  This band were a shining example of the good that can come from music and the joy it can give to those who play. I was jumping around and dancing to every song. The next nightclub is in Moods on Thursday evening, Simon and I will be going. Check them out at http://www.reach4thestars.org.uk/front-uts/

I'd just like to add that anybody who moans about Doncaster needs their head examining, there is so much going on, arts, theatre, dance, music to name but a few and we have so many beautiful buildings when you look up, yes we have some eyesores and some weirdos but they're in the minority, I love Doncaster and am blooming proud to be from "Donny".  If you're not from round here don't let the media coverage of drunks, etc put you off, come and find out for yourself what a lovely, friendly place we are.

Just outside the taxi rank to go home when I got a phone call from Lorna, there was  leak coming from the Gents toilets, damn knew it was too good to be true, so scuttled down their to sort it out.  Easy job for a seasoned plumber like myself, just a water pipe had come loose, sorted that and then home to get changed and go back.  The Torn supported by Alistair Pearson awesome, do I say that too much, I probably do, but anyway they were and they're lovely people too and Tims a brilliant bassist (Georgia and I love a bit of bass) I had a mad dance with her which Alistairs fiance Julie recorded and shared with the facebook fraternity, cheers Julie.

Sunday 11.05.14
Lazy day, beans on toast then off to Sine FM for Simons show The Other Way http://www.sinefm.com/a_z_of_shows/the_other_way

Good show done, we did have a laugh too, then home to kebab and chips in bed and early night, it's our last day of carbs for a while Simon is apparently obese and I've put weight on since I met him so we're gonna get fit and trim.

Well it soon starts flooding back once you start writing, hope it's not too long for you all.  TTFN and I'll be back next week, with weight loss results and how far Simons been running on his fitness regime, haha.
